Short Biography
Dr. Gurgen Petrossian is an international lawyer, lecturer, and consultant specializing in EU Sustainability Law, CSRD/ESRS implementation, ESG governance, Business & Human Rights, and Corporate Compliance. He brings together more than a decade of academic scholarship and practical advisory work in Europe, the South Caucasus, and international institutions.
Experience
He earned his legal education at the Universities of Yerevan, Heidelberg, and Erlangen-Nürnberg, completing an LL.M. and later a Dr. iur. in international law. His academic teaching portfolio includes courses in public international law, European law, human rights, humanitarian law, and sustainability governance at the Universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, and Yerevan State University.
Through Petrossian Consulting, Dr. Petrossian advises companies, institutions, and public authorities on the evolving landscape of EU sustainability requirements. His consulting work covers:
- CSRD and ESRS compliance for companies across multiple industries
- EU Taxonomy alignment and sustainable finance requirements
- CSDDD and supply chain due diligence implementation
- EU Battery Regulation & EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
- Development of Codes of Conduct, risk management frameworks, and ESG policies
- Design and delivery of training programs for employees, suppliers, and senior management

From 2019 to 2025, he was President and Co-Founder of the German-Armenian Lawyers’ Association, where he led professional engagement on human rights, rule of law, cultural heritage protection, and post-conflict accountability.
