Short Biography

Dr. Gurgen Petrossian is an international lawyer and consultant specializing in international law, human rights, compliance, and sustainability. He studied law in Yerevan, Heidelberg, and Erlangen-Nürnberg and has over a decade of academic and practical experience.

He advises companies, institutions, and governments on CSR, sustainability, business & human rights, and compliance frameworks, while teaching international law at the Universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, and Yerevan.

From 2019–2025, he was President and Co-Founder of the German-Armenian Lawyers‘ Association and is a member of the DICO CSR/Human Rights working group. In 2023, he was honored as Legal Advocate of the Year by the Center for Truth and Justice. Through Petrossian Consulting, he supports organizations in aligning with European and global legal standards.

Dr. Petrossian’s work extends to legal drafting, where he collaborates with partners to create code of conduct, policies, and contractual agreements that align with international guidelines. Moreover, he has a keen eye for ensuring transparency in the supply chain, backed by effective training programs for employees, suppliers, and stakeholders.

In his role, he is instrumental in establishing efficient complaint procedures and maintaining strong collaborations with various stakeholders, including NGOs and government agencies, to stay current with evolving regulations and best practices.

In his professional background, he has provided consultation to different governmental entities on the incorporation of international legal instruments into their national legal frameworks.

Furthermore, Dr. Petrossian’s dedication to human rights extends beyond his corporate work. He chairs the German-Armenian Lawyers’ Association, overseeing the sharing of knowledge and professional expertise among members. This role involves deep engagement with issues such as the protection of cultural heritage, war crimes, and armed conflicts.
